The bus depot in Lewes was closed in 2005. It had been a home for buses based in the town, which were operated by Southdown. Southdown were taken over by Stagecoach in 1989. Buses in Lewes are now operated from depots in nearby places, such as Brighton. Although the depot itself is closed, and buses are no longer garaged here overnight, the forecourt is still in use as a bus station where local bus routes call in.
