This toll booth is located on the A5(T) on the southern outskirts of Bethesda.The road dates back to the 1800s. A recent correspondent (R.Turner) wrote: It is pretty likely that this was originally designed by Thomas Telford as part of the London to Holyhead Road that was built in the 1820s. All the tollhouses had a standard design, though this one looks like it has been modified over the years. The low angle of the roof and the 45-degree bay on the road side are typical."
