Perhaps maelstrom might be a good description of this busy roundabout, except when it is blocked by the queue for the traffic lights just out of sight in the distance. The central island has been reduced in size during this year, to try to increase the capacity of the junction a little. That is probably why the island is covered in long grass rather than flower beds. The building with the two gables in the distance is the offices of the GMB Union.
