Built 1903-04 to a design by Berkeley Deane Wise, Ballymena was the last station constructed by the Belfast & Northern Counties Railway before it was bought by the Midland Railway (of England). Pulled down in 1979, it was replaced with a structure having all the architectural merits of a shoe-box.
