The following text is included, "Georgian Castle Archdale was built in the townland of Rossmore between 1773 and 1777 by Col Mervyn Archdale (1775 - 1813), the great great grandson of John Archdale. Tradition maintains the stones of this new castle were taken from the monastic ruins of Kiltierney, thus cursing the Archdale family, so that no heirs would be born within its walls - a prediction that has actually been fulfilled to the present day. (Edward, the son of Mervyn and future title holder, was born in the back entrance lodge during the construction of Castle Archdale.) It is pictured here Image]
