Western Skunk Cabbage (Lysichiton americanus), is also called Yellow Skunk Cabbage or Swamp Lantern. It is an arum. The prominent yellow spike is a spathe, a bract which is a special type of leaf forming a sheaf enclosing the flower spike. It is native to the Pacific Northwest of America. As implied by its name it has a distinctive smell.
