On the right is the Ideal DIY shop, and to its left is Market Street. Immediately past the traffic light on the left, is the turn into Deacon Street. This street, along with the other residential roads leading off this side of Commercial Road, still exists. Past Market Street, on the right, is the site of the former Market Hall, which had recently been demolished. At the time the photo was taken, part of the exterior walls and two shop units were still to be demolished. Outside the site, in Commercial Road, can be seen two red telephone kiosks, which are no longer there. More photos:- Image
