The grade II listed red brick manor house was built in about 1740. It has black-glazed pantiles to the south front and red pantiles to the rear where a modern extension was added. The novelist George Henry Borrow was born here in 1803. He is commemorated by a plaque above the front door. George Borrow wrote novels and travelogues that were based on experiences gained from travels around Europe. He developed a close affinity with the Romani people of Europe who figure prominently in his work. His best known book is "The Bible in Spain".
