The Salisbury Arms, Hertford

This splendid building claims to be the oldest inn in Hertford and was recorded as the Bell in 1431. It took its present name in about 1830 when it was purchased by the Marquess of Salisbury. The building, which dates from the 15th century, but has been extensively altered, is grade II listed.
