Coulsdon: The empty 'Red Lion' site

Until a few years ago, a large public house, the 'Red Lion', stood on this site. It was a Grade II Listed building, and when the owner demolished it, he was taken to court and fined one million pounds. Now some get-rich-quick cowboy is operating the site as a 'pay by phone' car parking pitch - at a rate of £1 per hour. Not surprisingly the take-up is almost non-existent, for this muddy unsurfaced patch with stones and puddles of water.
