The by-road heading down to the Stanley Arms and Wildboarclough, used by locals as a rat-run to avoid the slow and heavy traffic on the A537 as evidenced by the overtaking vehicle. The top edge of Macclesfield Forest is the tongue of trees intruding in the right middle distance below the shapely peak of Shutlingsloe.
