Attached to Image, this sign depicts airmen responding to a 'scramble' during World War II and racing to their machines. "These valiant few" was a phrase coined during the Battle of Britain to describe the brave men of the Royal Air Force who were fighting for air supremacy over England, many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice.
