"John Rae was an Arctic explorer without peer in the 19th Century. He discovered the route of the fabled Northwest Passage and mapped much of the Canadian Arctic." "John Rae was a hero in every sense. He displayed extraordinary physical bravery during his expeditions as well as showing an admirable trust in other people, whether from his own culture or not.
