The house here was built for the Earl of Onslow in the 1730's, and presumably these gates are from the same period. They are between two lodges. There is no public right of way through these gates. The main house and seven acres of land were gifted to the National Trust in 1956. However the estate of 1000 acres with 15 properties remain in the ownership of the Onslow Family. The Golden Gates are just off Epsom Road, the A246.
