Probably not many people in Burpham or Guildford know that the town possesses a very rare postbox dating from the extremely short reign of King Edward VIII. Most of these were installed near the end of 1936, just before he abdicated the throne to marry Mrs Simpson. There are thought to be only around 130 of these surviving, in the whole of the UK. The postbox that can be seen by the modern telephone kiosk, is Guildford's example. For a closer look, please see:- Image
