A small section of track from the former Great Eastern Railway's line from Cambridge to March via St Ives survives on the site of the station, here seen looking towards Chatteris. This route provided an alternative to the extant route via Ely, and in its heyday was much used for produce from the fruit-growing country. Between Somersham and Chatteris the line has been converted into a public path, and the southern section also lies within a local nature reserve. http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/s/somersham/index.shtml
