Viewed from Image with part of the gate awaiting reattachment on the right. The line opened in 1858 initially survived the Beeching cuts before being closed in 1969 ostensibly due to continual flooding around Barcombe Mills though the reality was Lewes council coveted railway land in the town to build a bypass something British Rail could make more money from in the short term than continue running the line. Since then there have been periodic attempts to reopen the line the last major effort being in 2008. This section is now somebody's back garden.
