These willows, of a few different species, were planted in 2006. Whilst supposedly quick growing, they may not reach 'fruition' for a many years yet. Established for trials of renewable fuel in Orkney, this plot was planted by the Agronomy Institute http://www.agronomy.uhi.ac.uk/ at Orkney College to investigate the success of take-up and sprouting of the different clones in their first year.
