Head west up Trafalgar Street then north into Station Street. Trafalgar Place was opened in 1989 on the site of an old goods yard. The yard was at a lower level to the station and had opened in 1894 and towards the end of its life was used by the Royal Mail. In 1983 it briefly became the town's terminus when British Rail relaid the entire track at the station's entrance. It was then closed and turned into a car park for the rest of the 1980s. The current block is mainly offices. Click on the link to take you to the next page. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/231146
