The park is heavily populated with Sciurus carolinensis. Most folk seem to like them despite their having decimated the native red squirrel population. It's hardly their fault that they have become such pests. They didn't ask for some misguided 19th century traveller to import them from North America and for someone else even more misguided to release a few into the wild in the latter part of the Victorian era. It isn't illegal to exterminate them but, if you are minded to do so, best keep quiet about it if you don't want the Polis on your doorstep http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1580675
