Buckhole Farm, High Halstow

Buckhole Farm lies toward the northern margin of the grid-square, in a hollow between two spurs of higher ground, to the north-west of High Halstow. The farmhouse is a substantial old building - it looks Georgian, but there's no mention of it in my 1969 edition of Pevsner. The view here is NNE from the minor road between High Halstow and Cooling. The woodland on the right is Northward Hill, an RSPB nature reserve. In the far distance toward the left of the picture there is a glimpse of Canvey Island and hills near Hadleigh, in Essex, on the far side of the Thames estuary.
