This is the approach from the north. The lock has a rise of 7ft 4in (2.23 metres) and is operated by the lock keeper electrically. Boat crews do not usually need to wait very long. From Worcester to Stourport the maximum boat size accommodated by the locks is 90 feet (27. metres) length and 19 feet (58 metres) beam. Usually several boats use the lock together. Licences are checked and boat movements recorded.
