Bond Street was constructed in the 1850s as a direct link from the town centre to the station. It is surprisingly narrow for that purpose, especially as the south (left) side remained mostly undeveloped until the telephone exchange was built in the 20C. On the right there is a series of 19C warehouses and office buildings.
