There are two ways of descending from the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal at Stourport Basin, down to the River Severn. There are two deep broad locks which can accommodate boats up to a beam of 4.6 metres (11ft 7in) and a length of 22.9 metres (75 feet). There are two pairs of staircased narrow locks which can accommodate boats up to a beam of 2.13 metres (7 feet) and a length of 21.95 metres (72 feet). This image shows the approach towards Lock No 4, the upper chamber of the top staircase.
