Callaghan is the only UK citizen ever to have held all four great offices of state and yet this house where he lived from being a toddler to a teenager does not have a blue plaque. In a 2006 biography by Harry Conroy (London, Haus, 2006 ISBN 9781904950707) we learn that the owner would not agree to any external commemoration because she had always voted Conservative!
