Although the bridge was renewed when the new Seven Meadows Road was created, it still only has a single carriageway. This is almost certainly due to the fact that there would have been insufficient room to expand the existing approach embankments. Note the superfluous road sign at the left. It has clearly been up for some time, and unless the change is in the very immediate past it is in fact misleading and meaningless.
