The lane serves the farms that make up Horsted Green having one entrance or exit here, Image There has been some encroachment of the highway in the distant past, the oaks would have been part of the original hedgerow that provided the field boundary with the banking still evident. Some enterprising landowner has moved the boundary forward next to the lane and planted a new hedge whilst latter owners have filled the gap with a fence.
