Most definitely not an indigenous species, Helmeted Guinea Fowl (Numidia meleagris) are native to southern Africa although they were once found across north Africa and they were imported to France from Morocco. English farmers are now experimenting with these birds as a new source of income alongside other exotic types. Kew Gardens has a flock on display.
