View from Station Road. The double-track line is the one from Manchester Piccadilly to Rose Hill. The single-track line originally went to Stockport (Tiviotdale) and was once a busy freight line for coal trains from Yorkshire to the power station at Fiddlers Ferry. Now it just goes a couple of miles to an industrial site at Bredbury.
