This is the Welsh Drovers Road near Offchurh Bury. The drovers road was used for centuries to drive livestock to the markets in London. the drovers roads are characterised by wide verges to accommodate the stock. They were used extensively probably from the early middle ages until the early 19thC when competition from rail took over.
