Taken from the bridge on Vauxhall Road. The first Maud Foster was cut in 1568, and it now forms part of a complex network of drains ensuring that low-lying Boston never (or rarely) floods. Maud Foster may have owned the land through which the drain was cut, but her identity is obscure.
