Next door to 'The Cottage' Image] are three cottages known as Carters Cottages built in 1832, but recently altered and modernised. They had an open yard to the rear and were presumably the homes of persons whose occupation was carting, as the surname Carter was unknown in the village at that time. http://heddonhistory.weebly.com/village-property.html
