The main A272 heading towards North Chailey from Newick. The road was built as a turnpike in the 1770s replacing an old meandering route that ran to the north. Named Station Road from the 1880s when Newick and Chailey station was built between the two villages. Although the straight section has a 50mph limit it is notorious for speeding cars and motorbikes.
