A good inn needed to provide for its patrons' transport as well as for the gentlemen, with a fine stable range. This is the Martins Arms at Colston Bassett. Originally it doubled as farm and inn, brewing its own ale. This is not the original building but even so dates from the early 18th century, with later additions. The main building is Listed Grade II.
