Vine Road level crossings, Barnes Common

Just west of Barnes station on Barnes Common, the line from Waterloo splits and Vine Road, which crosses both branches, has two level crossings. The nearer crossing here is on the line to Mortlake and Richmond and the further one is on the Hounslow Loop to Barnes Bridge. Both lines are quite busy and so one or other of the crossings shuts every few minutes. This photograph was taken in one of the periods when neither crossing was closed.
