The buildings beyond the kiln are at Abbotshaws - said to take its name from the long strip of wood (or shaw) behind it, which was once owned by the Abbacy of Jedburgh (information from Rootsweb http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/OLD-WORDS/2001-03/0985318656 ) .
