Railway Line at Wanborough Station

This railway was opened in 1849 and joined Ash Junction with Guildford. Wanborough Station did not open till 1889 - the main reason for this was to serve Sir Algernon West at nearby Wanborough Manor. The knight was a colleague and Private Secretary to William Gladstone, Prime Minister. normandyhistorians.co.uk
