The original course of the old Lewes-East Grinstead road which was moved in the late 18th centuries to follow the current course taken by the A275. The movement was due to Chailey Potteries which occupied the site to the left from the 1740s to the Second World War. Part of the site is still a brickworks to the north but since the 1950s the old potteries site has been built over. The white house on the immediate left is Owlswick whilst that beyond with the roofers working on it is Brickyard House.
