I think I would classify this as an "informative sculpture with purpose". The picnic seating area is in the form of a full size Wych barge such as used to sail down the Droitwich Barge Canal from the 18th to early 20th centuries. These barges carried salt pumped up from the local brine pits. The information board has been cleverly made in the shape of a sail. I do not have the exact measurements, but this feature is about 14 feet (4 metres) in width and seventy feet (18 metres) in length. The whole of Vines Park is on former brine pits, and has been beautifully landscaped. By the time the canals are both open (later in 2011) this will be an even more popular amenity. St Augustine's Church can be seen lurking on the hill to the right!
