One of three pubs in Duxford, the John Barleycorn originally dates from the late 16th century, but was altered in the 17th century (hence 1669 above the dormer window) and subsequently. It is grade II listed - for listing particulars see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1128124. It was originally a coaching inn, and is recorded in the 19th century as "The Coach and Horses". The current name was first used in around 1860.
