The tall conifers in the foreground are part of Ravelston Woods, which occupy a hill between Queensferry Road and Mary Erskine's School. To the right is part of Ravelston House Park. The tall chimney is that of the Western General Hospital, and the island in the Firth of Forth beyond the city is Inchcolm.
