The original church dates from around 1300 and the tower was added in the 15th century. Major parts of the church were destroyed by Cromwell's soldiers and despite being rebuilt much later, in 1879, the nave is missing, leaving a large gap between the tower and the chancel which presumably dates from the 19th century rebuilding.
