Built in 1927 and named the Barley Mow, it was subsequently renamed The Arkle Manor after the 1964-66 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner (although it is not clear what connection there is between a pub in Surrey and an Irish horse!). For many years it was part of the Harvester restaurant chain, but is now a gastropub.
