An elevated chest tomb built c1883. An interesting mixture of colours - grey granite columns supporting the tomb which has a pink granite base and frieze, and bronze panels set between grey granite columns. The scoop-profile lid is surmounted by a pink granite cross set between scrolls. (This is largely lifted from the listing details.) Grade II listed. West Norwood Cemetery is one of the “Magnificent Seven” cemeteries founded in the early C19th to deal with the expanding population of London. It was laid out by Sir William Tite and opened in 1837. It has 65 Grade II and Grade II* listed monuments.
