Public House off the island (we didn't call it a roundabout as some may today), next to the terminus of the No. 1 Bus (on left). The pub has seen many names over the years. I recall in my school days, coming around this island on No. 11 bus, watching in case the No.1 was about to leave, and with the benefit of no doors (rear exit buses) we were able to jump off the bus at speed, leaning backwards of course - madness, but 'who dares wins'
