Just outside Peckham Rye Station. This picture is representative of much of the length of Rye Lane -- there are more Halal butchers, fresh fish shops, greengrocers and independent food shops than you ever imagined possible. Most of the shops are aimed at the local African and Caribbean population, so you will find yams, dried fish, snails, cows feet, tripe, pigs tails, cornmeal, plantains and much else that's not on offer at your local supermarket.
