Croal Mill, on Blackshaw Lane (off Wigan Road). The mill, which is viewed here from the playing fields at Haslam Park, was built in 1908 for the Croal Spinning Company Limited and was in use as a cotton mill until it closed in 1967. It is now used as warehouse by a mail order company. The mill was probably named "Croal" because the River Croal is behind it. It was given Grade II listed status in 1996 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-475924-croal-mill-bolton listing details http://www.ss-osands.org.uk/ssosands/beep/deane/cotton_mills.htm "Cotton Mills in the Deane Area"
