This 4 horsepower Bumsted & Chandler inverted vertical duplex engine drives a dynamo for the pumping station's lights. The cylinders are single acting and this design was known as 'the silent engine'. It is certainly a greedy engine and at 700 rpm its two little cylinders use an inordinate amount of steam.
