Removal of the Dovecote, Halifax Bus Station

In 2004 a dovecote was installed near the entrance to Halifax Bus Station as part of a pigeon management strategy in the town centre, paid for by Oakapple Holmes who converted the nearby Crossley House council offices into apartments. The pigeon eggs were removed every fortnight in an attempt to keep numbers down. Feeding of the birds was also tolerated. According to the Halifax Courier, the dovecote was removed due to complaints about the amount of food being left by bird-fanciers. The dovecote has been relocated to Peoples Park.
