Built in the streamlined Art Deco style this building contrasts with the more severe form of Art Deco in the Assembly Rooms opposite Image It consist of shops and flats in the part along Stoke Abbott Road. An email from Mark Messingham mentioned the following: This building was actually a branch of Caffyns Garages. The small slip road in front used to be where the petrol pumps were and in the middle of the front of the building, where the steps to the entrance are used to be the area where the cars were driven in to be worked on. Obyiously, the steps and the glass centrepeice did not used to be there.
